The value is in reading other people's schedules. Inheriting a crontab with twenty entries, or reviewing a pull request that changes 0 2 * * 0 to 0 2 * * 1, is exactly where misreadings happen, and a wrong cron expression produces no error, just a job running at a time nobody expects.
The expression that most often means something other than what its author intended combines day-of-month and day-of-week. Standard cron ORs those two fields, so 0 0 1 * 1 fires on the first of the month and on every Monday. Translated to English, that is immediately visible.
